An Evening with The Saint John’s Bible at MLHS

Join us Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 7 PM in the MLHS Fine Arts Center for a special evening with Tim Ternes, the Director of The Saint John’s Bible and Programming at the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library in Collegeville, Minnesota. In his role as director, he worked closely with the artistic team for the project, facilitating project planning, exhibitions, programming, curating and caring for the original folios of the Bible. Tim travels extensively offering presentations and educational programs for The Saint John’s Bible project and library collections. In short, Tim is the keeper of the pages and the keeper of the story.

A full-size replica of the Gospels and the book of Acts from The Saint John’s Bible will be on display the month of December in the school office and for private viewing by appointment by calling the school office.

Shrek the Musical Is On Stage November 16-18

Shrek the Musical at MLHSShrek the Musical comes to the MLHS Fine Arts Auditorium stage Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17 at 7 PM and Sunday, November 18 at 2 PM. Tickets are available at the door – $10 for adults and $7 for students.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs from Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Caroline, or Change) and a sidesplitting book by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek brings all the beloved characters you know from the film to life on stage and proves there’s more to the story than meets the ears.

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek….” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand… and his name is Shrek.

Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Joelle Grimsley to be Inducted into the MVCA Hall of Fame

Joelle Grimsley, coach of the Mayer Lutheran High School Crusader volleyball team, will be inducted into the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame during the Minnesota State High School League State Volleyball Tournament Banquet on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Xcel Center in St. Paul.  She is the only member of the Class of 2018 to be inducted and joins 67 existing members of this exclusive club.

Grimsley has served as the Mayer Lutheran volleyball coach for twenty-three years of her thirty-year coaching career.  Her teams at Mayer Lutheran have moved onto the State Tournament twelve times, winning the Class-A State title in 2016 and 2017. The Crusaders are seeded second in the Class-A State Tournament this year.

“History has shown that, along with hockey, volleyball is the top girls’ sport in Minnesota,” shared Jeff Groves, General Manager of the Apple Valley volleyball program and a member of the Hall of Fame in addition to serving as the current Hall of Fame Coordinator.  “This group of coaches are legends and Joelle is highly deserving to be added to their number.”

“I am humbled and blessed to be able to receive this award,” said Grimsley.  “I do it for the relationships I build with the kids so that I am better able to share Jesus with them.”

“Joelle represents the very best in coaching, no matter what the sport,” added Kris Gustin, the Mayer Lutheran Activities Director. “Her enthusiasm, passion, and work ethic are amazing and her teams reflect the lessons she teaches in practice and away from the court.”

Congratulations, Joelle!
