Welcome to the Crusader Crux a quick look at the important accomplishments Crusader alumni are doing in the name of our God Jesus Christ. This issue we feature Kara (Zieroth) Eckstein. Kara is a 2012 graduate from MLHS and lives in St. Paul with her husband Joshua Eckstein. She is the daughter of Gary and JoAnn Zieroth of Ft. Wayne, IN. Kara is currently attending Concordia University of St. Paul and is majoring in Christian Ministry.
Since Kara is still a student one of the jobs that Kara does on campus is to tutor international students English through the Arrive Ministries program. The part of Kara’s day that she enjoys the most is when she can share her love of Jesus with those around her.
“The international students I work with are most likely not Christian. It’s a challenge and blessing to work with them. Most of them are from Saudi Arabia and are strictly Muslim. It’s always interesting striking up faith conversations with them.”
The way Kara likes to share her gifts is to bake treats for the daily chapels and is involved in campus ministry. She regularly attends church with her husband for his field work.
“I cannot wait for my husband to get a call as a DCE this coming year. I’m so excited to bloom wherever we are planted and to start a family. My future has never been certain. There will always be unknowns. But what I do know is that God is with me wherever I go and he will never forsake me.”
Kara’s experience with MLHS has allowed her to “find academics in college easier than I expected”, and learning through the leadership that Mr.Lane and Mr. Landskroener shared with her has helped her find Christ in both volunteering and her education. MLHS allowed her to “go deeper in my journey with Christ” as well as establishing lifelong friends from Mayer. These are the many opportunities Kara thanks God for.
“God has given me gifts and since he has died on the cross for me I have the privilege of using those gifts for his glory.”
Priorities are important to Kara and her new husband and she would like to share with all people she meets that you can never give up on the importance of God and his word in your life. Thank you for being a good example of all that is His, Kara.
“God has never given up on me. I have gone through some slumps and I have had my high points. At each point in my life He has been there. He has cried with me, laughed with me, and celebrated with me.”
