Crusaders for a Cure – February 8

Mark your calendars for a night of fun and fellowship. February 11 will be the culmination of CRUSADERS FOR A CURE. The MLHS girls basketball team will be hosting this event in an effort to raise awareness and funds for women who have cancer. That day the girls and boys basketball teams will be hosting Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity. Game times are as follows:

  • C Boys at 12 PM,
  • B Girls at 2 PM,
  • B Boys at 4 PM,
  • Varsity Girls at 6 PM
  • Varsity Boys at 8 PM.

It is sure to be a packed house, so come early to get your seat!

All proceeds of the CRUSADERS FOR A CURE activities will go to Ridgeview Medical Center’s Pay It Forward patient assistance fund. Through this fund Ridgeview is able to provide emergency financial assistance to patients facing challenges during their treatment for cancer. In the past nine years, the MLHS girls basketball team has raised over $49,000 for the Pay It Forward fund.

The most exciting activity of the day is sure to be the shooting contest. You can pay to shoot from a spot on the floor; if you make the shot you get an entry into a drawing for lots of great prizes, including the grand prize of a 40” Samsung HD Smart TV.

The following shots are offered:

  • $2 for a half-court shot,
  • $5 for a three pointer,
  • $10 for a free throw, and
  • $30 for a layup, which you can shoot until you make!

Don’t want to shoot? No problem, you can rent a MLHS basketball player. For $10, they will shoot two free throws for you. If they make both, you will receive two entries into a drawing for a second television. If they make one or none, you will still receive an entry (please note—renting a player does not qualify you for all prizes).

In addition to the shooting contest, a bake sale, sponsor the free throw shooter, CRUSADERS FOR A CURE bracelets, honorary ribbons, and more will all be taking place on this great night. We will even have a drawing for two Timberwolves Tickets in the Lexus Courtside Club! Plan on coming February 8 to show your support for those who have faced and will face cancer. For more information or to donate to this great cause, please contact a girls basketball player or Coach Gustin at 952-657-2251 x1217.
