On Wednesday, November 8, Mayer Lutheran High School will host its annual Veterans’ Day celebration at 10:15 AM in the Fine Arts Center. The entire community is invited to attend the hour-long event. The program will include music from the choirs at Mayer Lutheran High School, Christ Community Lutheran School in Watertown, MN, and Zion Lutheran School in Mayer, MN. American Legion Post 601 in New Germany, MN will post the colors and the main speaker will be Col. Eddie Frizell of the Minnesota Army National Guard, an eighteen-year veteran who has served tours of duty in Bosnia, Iraq, and Kuwait, where he received a Bronze Star as leader of the famous Red Bull Cavalry Squadron. A Blue Star Banner salute to families of those who actively serve in the armed forces will also be held that day. A luncheon will be served following the program.
The Mayer Lutheran High School theatre program is proud to present The Sound of Music. This
classic, popular musical featuring the famous songs: “Edelweiss”, “Do-Re-Mi,” and “My Favorite Things” was originally produced on Broadway in 1959 by Rogers and Hammerstein. This musical is based on the story of the Von Trapp family as told in the memoir of Maria von Trapp. Performances will be held on November 17 and 18 at 7:00 PM and 2:30 PM on November 19. (Note time change for Sunday performance)
