Led by returning senior and team captain Katelyn Stanley, the Mayer Lutheran Speech Team tackled the speech season this year small in numbers, but determined in spirit. The three-member team of Stanley and rookie freshmen Veronica Johnson and Kaitlyn Anderson traveled to ten meets around the Twin Cities, having at least one speaker place in finals at almost all of the meets, and taking third place for quality points at Norwood Young America’s speech meet in February. The regular season wrapped up on April 8 with the section meet at Watertown Mayer High School.
For the third year in a row, Katelyn Stanley made it to the final round in the Informative Category, and finished the meet in second place, earning her a trip to the Minnesota State High School Speech Tournament on April 22 at Apple Valley High School.
We are excited to see how Katelyn does at the state meet once again, and welcome anyone who would like to come and cheer her on to do so! Congratulations to all three girls for their great performances throughout the speech season.
