Nearly every Mayer Lutheran High School student graduates with service, outreach or mission experience. Part of preparing Christian leaders includes instilling compassion and servant hearts. At MLHS, you don’t have to look very far to see our students living this out in their daily lives.
J-term Mission trip in Anapra Mexico
Since 2005, MLHS has been sending mission teams to impoverished Anapra, Mexico to build houses on a two week mission trip that leaves the day after Christmas and returns at the end of MLHS J-term in January. This mission trip is run through Ysleta Lutheran Mission in El Paso, Texas. Participation has grown tremendously through the years resulting in relationships, servant hearts, perspectives and long-term engagements with the Anapra community. Immersion with Anapra families for a week creates life long memories for the teams and, in many cases, life changing events. True, we build houses but the trip really builds much more than that.
