Welcome back! It’s great to be in school, face-to-face! I hope this ‘Tidbit’ of information finds you safe and healthy!

There are some great opportunities that I would like to share with you. Please see below and participate if you are interested. Some great college planning invitations!

College & Financial Aid Night at MLHS.

Date: Monday, September 21 @ 6:30 pm

Where: Fine Arts Auditorium (enter door #7)

Who is invited to attend? Juniors, Seniors & any parent

2020 Minnesota Virtual College Exploration

Dates: September 28- October 14

Where: Online

Who is invited to participate? Students, Parents, Others Link to Register: http://www.mn-acac.org/

What is this? You’re invited to participate in an exciting new opportunity: Minnesota’s Virtual College Exploration. Hear from Admission professionals on topics such as paying for college, application essays, college athletic recruitment and more. Learn more about 150 different colleges from all over the country in live information sessions! Students should register for each session they want to attend. Once they register, they’ll receive a confirmation email with their unique link to join the Zoom webinar. When students register, they are sharing their registration information only with the colleges presenting on that particular panel. StriveScan does not sell or share personally identifiable student information with any other third parties. Parents can register using their student’s information.

Super College Saturday

Date: Saturday, October 3

Where: Online

Who is invited? Students, Parents, Others Link to Register: http://www.mn-acac.org/scs

What is this? This is a virtual college readiness experience where underrepresented and first-generation Minnesota high school students will learn about applying to college, financial aid, finding a school that is the right fit for them, and more!

The ACT at MLHS will not be offered on October 24. It will be hosted at our site in June. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Opportunities

Michael Branscum is the new youth employment counselor at CareerForce Chaska. If there are any youth interested in career-specific endeavors, Michael is taking referrals. He works with both In School Youth (ISY) and Out of School Youth (OSY). See Mrs. Kelzer for a fillable form for anybody interested in reaching out. We do have support services funds available for bus passes, school supplies, childcare assistance, job specific attire/tools, training/certificate programs, etc.

If a youth wants to call, text, Facetime, etc. feel free to reach out at 612-503-2599.

Here is a list of a few of the things I can assist with for any interested youth:

In-School Youth (ISY)

– Ages 14-21

– Enrolled in high school or college

– We set up work sites for skill building

– Work readiness prep

– Virtual soft skills training

– Supportive services (boots, scrubs, tools, transportation, etc.)

– Career exploration webinars

Out-Of-School Youth (OSY)

– Ages 16-24

– We set up work sites for skill building

– Supportive services (boots, scrubs, tools, transportation, etc.)

– Work readiness preparation

– Virtual soft skill training

– Career exploration webinars

– Must enroll for OSY prior to school registration for certificate programs. Tuition assistance is available for WIOA certified programs.

Immersive Career Experiences For Ages 15-18 Fall Semester

We are delighted to announce our biggest ever schedule of work experience programs for the fall semester, which your students can register for now. On our programs, students work alongside top industry executives to gain a 360-degree experience of some of the world’s most competitive and desirable careers. All programs will be delivered ‘Live Online’: immersive work experience with successful professionals in a live, interactive environment; from the comfort of your own home.

For Ages 15 to 18: Weekend Programs in all 20 industries (up to 2 days each)

For Ages 12 to 14: Weekend Programs in 8 industries (1 day each)
