Mayer Lutheran strives to maintain a safe and healthy school environment. COVID continues to be a concern and we continue striving to prevent the spread of this disease in our community as we are able. The following procedures are in place for the 2023-2024 school year. Your understanding, cooperation, and communication is appreciated.
Monitor your child for symptoms of COVID or other illnesses. If symptomatic, consider keeping your child home from school and/or consider testing for COVID so you and the school know how best to handle the situation.
- If a student tests POSITIVE for COVID:
- Keep the student home for 5 days.
- Day 1 is the day after symptom onset OR the positive COVID test.
- After 5 days, IF the student has no symptoms or the symptoms are resolving and temperature is 100.4 degrees or lower for at least the past 24 hours, then they can return to school IF THEY ARE WILLING TO WEAR A MASK FOR THE NEXT 5 DAYS (days 6-10).
- If the student is not willing to wear the mask for days 6-10, they are to stay home for the remainder of the 10-day isolation period.
- Keep the student home for 5 days.
- If the student is exposed to someone who is positive for COVID.
- Monitor the student for COVID symptoms for 10 days, with day 1 being the day after exposure.
- If symptoms develop the student will be treated as if positive for COVID and will follow the procedures in #1 above.
- A negative test for COVID will allow the student to return as soon as the student has no symptoms or the symptoms are resolving and temperature is 100.4 degrees or lower for at least the past 24 hours.
